Wound healing potential of sodium alginate-based topical gels loaded with a combination of essential oils, iron oxide nanoparticles and tranexamic acid

Abstract Wound management is a key feature in saving people’s lives, and regardless of the wound size, using appropriate dressing crucial. Alginate-based topical gels loaded with 2 mL essential oils (eucalyptus, lavender rosemary oil) combination 30 mg magnetite (Fe 3 O 4 ) nanoparticles 70 tranexamic acid were prepared. Carbopol was used as gelling agent surfactant to disperse EO. X-ray diffraction (XRD) scanning electron microscope (SEM) confirmed successful formation Fe nanoparticles. The Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy revealed absence chemical interaction between iron nanoparticles, acid, gel matrix. formulations displayed pH, spreadability viscosity range 6.8–7.2, 5.4–10.1 cm (3444–1260 cp) after 120 s, respectively. vitro healing studies dressings closure 99% on day 3. Their antibacterial blood clotting potential significant compared control. capability these makes them for treating bleeding infected wounds.
